I have been painting since 2007. I am self-taught and categorize my work as “outsider art.”
Many of my subject pieces are influenced by pop culture and things I see everyday. I like to express my sense of humor (and mortality) with skeletons and the personification of animals.
Early on I began painting abstract backgrounds for my subjects, which became a thing of its own.
My work has shown in galleries in AZ, KY, NY, OH, and VA and I participate in various art shows/festivals in the Cincinnati area. Select pieces are currently for sale at One Main Gallery in Milford, OH.
I am from the northern tip of Virginia and currently live in Clermont County, Ohio with my wife, daughter, and four-legged friends. I am trained in clinical psychology (PhD, Virginia Tech) and I am a forensic human factors consultant in my day job.
Thank you so much for stopping by to look!
I mainly work with acrylic paint and epoxy resin and will paint on just about anything, though typically canvas, wood, and vinyl records. I also do ink on paper and the occasional multimedia piece.
Whimsy, irony, tragedy/comedy, gallows humor, satire, cynicism, and gratitude are all on my palette. Inspirations include Dia de los Muertos art , cartoons/comics, psychology, punk rock, pop culture, dark humor, and the endless work I see from artists globally online.
